Supply of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) from the Carbon Farming Initiative has continued to grow through FY15, with 2,929,137 ACCUs issued (since 1 July) in line with on-going demand from the Carbon Price Mechanism through to February 2, 2015. Three new methodologies were released over September, however these are expected to have no immediate impact until higher and more stable ACCU prices are established.
While the supply wheels continue to turn on the CFI, all eyes remain fixed on Canberra, with a deal on the CFI Amendment Bill imminent, as we reported in our latest Market Update. We continue to assume legislative progress on the Emissions Reduction Fund prior to Dec 4, with potential for an agreement as early as this week pending amendments from both PUP and Senator Xenophon.
