INTRODUCTION
REPUTEX ENERGY & CLIMATE POLICY TOOL
Australia is expected to develop a toolkit of policy measures to meet its commitments under the Paris Agreement, with no single policy able to deliver large-scale, cost-effective emissions reductions, across all sectors of the economy.
While there is no ‘wrong’ policy pathway to meet Australia’s 2030 target, the exclusion of one policy lever (such as an EIS) will impact the shape of the Australian market, with emissions losses needing to be balanced by an equivalent policy scale-up elsewhere in the economy. This reinforces the zero-sum nature of Australia’s emissions reduction task.
The RepuTex 2030 Energy & Climate Policy (ECP) Tool is an interactive web tool, helping users to analyse the policy settings needed to meet Australia’s current – and future – emissions targets, and understand which sectors of the economy are likely to contribute large-scale emissions reductions as policy conditions change.
