Our State of the Australian Carbon Market report for November 2024 has now been published, reviewing activity in the Australian carbon market over the last month.
Traded volumes reported under our daily Survey Panel process (excluding confidential submissions) surpassed 5M for the first time in November – marking a new high – as the conclusion of FY24 reporting at the end of October triggered increased hedging activity and subsequent price increases. Increased activity was led by record high spot volumes, while derivatives volumes remain well above year-to-date averages. Analysis indicates that 2024 year-to-date volumes have now surpassed total 2023 traded volumes by over one-third, highlighting significant compliance-led growth in the market.
This monthly State of the Australian Carbon Market provides a comprehensive review of trading activity in the ACCU spot and derivative markets over November, including pricing and traded volumes for spot, forward and options, analysis of market depth, our proprietary forward curves, and net balance.
