Dear Subscriber,
Our latest Australian Carbon Offset Market Update has now been published.
Positive sentiment continues to flow through the international voluntary market, with floor and average prices up across the board, particularly for higher end nature-based sequestration and removal projects. The bull run also continues in the Australian carbon offset market, with Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) spot prices growing 6% over the period, up an impressive 151% over the calendar year. Market activity continues to be underpinned by voluntary buyers, in particular the involvement of new speculator and investor participants, with spot and forward activity increasing. While prices continue to be driven by the tight supply setting, some respite may be on the horizon, with supply from projects with optional delivery contracts growing.
This report provides a snapshot of current activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including spot and forward price dynamics, offset issuance and voluntary cancellations. Analysis considers Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) and voluntary offsets across key international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.
