Our latest Carbon Weekly report has now been published, reviewing activity in the Australian and international carbon markets for the period June 24 – 28 2024.
Despite bid and offer levels suggesting relatively strong liquidity in the reported market, the ACCU market saw a lull to mark the end of the financial year with weekly volumes dropping and prices moving sideways over the period. Savanna Fire Management (SFM) ACCUs were seen through the reported market for the first time since late April, continuing to price tightly to Generic ACCUs. Notably, analysis suggests that the uptake of options continues to be on the rise, with financial year (FY) 23/24 volumes exceeding FY 22/23 by a factor of over 4x. Meanwhile, issuance has returned to normal as 702,581 credits were issued over the two-week period from 26 May to 9 June, with the first registration of a blue carbon (tidal restoration) project under the ACCU scheme.
RepuTex’s Carbon Weekly report analyses recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessments, method spreads, forward activity, traded volumes, and key market developments. Analysis considers the Australian market along with international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.
