The Australian carbon market saw limited activity last week as public holidays in Australia and key Asian markets dampened participation. Despite this, our Generic ACCU (Benchmark) assessment recorded its first weekly gain of 2025, pausing the recent downtrend as early signs of compliance demand begin to emerge at current levels. Meanwhile, attention turned to the final issuance figures released by the Regulator, with 2024 marking a record year despite falling shy of initial projections.

Spot prices see first weekly gain of 2025 on subdued activity
Traded activity throughout the Australian carbon market dropped sharply last week, with participation subdued by the Australia Day holiday (27th) locally, and Chinese New Year across key Asian markets (29th – 30th).
