Carbon Markets

UPDATE: Sustained increases in bid levels lead Generic and HIR ACCU prices higher

Our latest Carbon Weekly report has now been published, reviewing activity in the Australian and international carbon markets for the period July 8 – 12 2024.

Spot traded ACCU volumes rebounded last week (July 8 – 12) as the market saw increased activity and appetite from buyers across more liquid methods, leading our assessment for Generic ACCUs to a 3-month high, the highest since late March. Overall, spot trading for HIR ACCUs continues to be subdued against the YTD average, while spot and swap trading continues to show convergence between HIR ACCUs and Generic ACCUs. Meanwhile, the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) provided a third consecutive fortnightly issuance update, a change from prior weekly updates, while our calculated analysis of the current ACCU inventory (holdings) reached a major milestone.

RepuTex’s Carbon Weekly report analyses recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessments, method spreads, forward activity, traded volumes, and key market developments. Analysis considers the Australian market along with international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.
