Dear Subscriber,

Following the release of AEMO’s draft 2020 Integrated System Plan, the Alternative Case within our Australian Electricity Outlook (AEO) for wholesale electricity prices in each region of the NEM will be updated to reflect AEMO’s “Step Change” scenario for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions under a “well below 2°C” climate pathway.

This scenario accounts for more aggressive global decarbonisation, leading to faster technological improvements, the accelerated exit of existing generators, greater electrification of the transport sector with increased infrastructure developments, energy digitalisation, and consumer-led innovation.

Our Central Case view of pricing paths and market development under the current transition of the energy industry will remain unchanged.

Additional sensitivities are considered as a complement to the scenarios, helping to identify the magnitude of impact of key assumptions and understand pricing paths.

Kind Regards
The RepuTex Team
