MARKET TRACKER: Forestry projects boost FY15 ACCU supply

While discussions continue between the government and the crossbench on Australia’s climate policy landscape, ACCU supply from the Carbon Farming Initiative has accelerated over the last two months, with 1,414,579 ACCUs issued before demand from the Carbon Price Mechanism expires on February 2, 2015. A significant increase in avoided deforestation projects has led to an increase in our expectations for ACCU supply over FY15, with a rush in existing projects seeking to gain backdated credits in order to capitalise on high offset prices under the CPM.
