Carbon offset prices have seen widespread gains in both the domestic and international markets over the last week, though with different factors driving positive sentiment. Prices for generic Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) continued to rally over the last week, on larger volumes, reflecting the continuing trend for early buyers to enter the market, subject to their willingness to take on regulatory risk to capitalise on current low prices. Outside of the broker-traded market, demand continues to build for larger offtake contracting as buyers continue to consider their positions in response to the new Safeguard Mechanism reform. Meanwhile prices have increased in international markets on the back of increasing liquidity, and buying ahead of Q4 retirements.
