UPDATE: ACCU prices return to year-end levels as pullback continues

Prices of both Generic and Human Induced Regeneration (HIR) Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) again pulled back last week as initial strong support continued to settle, and large compliance buyers remain on the sidelines. Total volumes jumped 59% on the week, in favour of HIR units. Despite the pullback, sentiment remains positive as participants take a longer term view on demand. In the international market, some of the negative sentiment began to ebb as dynamic trading conditions took hold. Strong demand for North American forestation credits helped to steady what has been a shaky market, even as prices and demand for REDD+ projects has continued to fall.

This report analyses current activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including spot and forward price dynamics, and prices by underlying project methodologies. Analysis considers Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) and voluntary offsets across key international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.
