UPDATE: ACCU forwards and options action, nature-based units trade higher

Our latest Carbon Weekly report has now been published, reviewing activity in the Australian and international carbon markets for the week 31 July – 4 August, 2023.

RepuTex’s Carbon Weekly report analyses recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessment by method, spreads, forward activity, traded volumes, and key market developments. Analysis considers the Australian market along with international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.

Prices for HIR trade higher, Environmental Plantings trade (for the first time in the brokered market)

187,000 units were transacted in the ACCU spot market last week, a slight decrease WoW, with volumes slightly below recent levels. A further 58,000 forward units were transacted, bringing total weekly (broker) traded volumes to 245,000.

Generic ACCUs (low-cost avoidance) traded up 1.25 on the week to close at $30.25 on Friday, up 4.3%, with prices returning above $30/t for the first time in the last month. One trade for no Avoided Deforestation Generics was recorded on Tuesday at $30/t in 20,000, trading again on Friday at $30.15 in 20,000, closing just below the Generic price. 125,000 Generic units were transacted on the
