RepuTex has published its submission to the Australian Government’s 2026 Safeguard Mechanism Review.
The Review comes as the Safeguard Mechanism enters a more challenging phase, with declining baselines, rising compliance demand and increasing pressure to accelerate onsite industrial decarbonisation.
Drawing on our carbon market modelling and day-to-day engagement with industry, our submission identifies key structural issues that we believe will shape the effectiveness of the scheme beyond 2030.
Our submission considers measures to:
- accelerate onsite industrial decarbonisation and strengthen long-term investment certainty;
- manage increasing reliance on ACCUs while maintaining a functioning carbon market;
