INSIGHTS: What’s the status of key ACCU methods, and the implications for future supply?

After a prolonged period of seemingly limited activity around ACCU method development and reviews, recent months have seen a flurry of activity, including ERAC’s review of the Soil Carbon methodology and the finalisation of the new Improved Native Forest Management method.

Soil carbon review recommends cap to mitigate over-crediting risks 

The Emission Reduction Assurance Committee’s (ERAC) review of the Soil Carbon method has now been completed, with outcomes published on Tuesday, 28 July.

As part of the method’s periodic review announced in 2024, ERAC assessed whether the 2021 soil carbon method was still appropriate and if any updates were necessary to ensure that it remains aligned with the Offset Integrity Standards
