UPDATE: ACCU prices hold the $38/t line as derivatives volumes hit a year-to-date high

ACCUs held tightly around the $38/t mark last week, with the weekly traded range tightening to a 6-week low of just $0.10/t. Liquidity over the week pivoted strongly to derivatives, where volumes surged to a year-to-date high, led by a concentrated burst of options and forward positioning around key quarterly settlements.

ACCU prices supported by bursts of liquidity across spot and derivatives markets

Total traded volumes across the Australian exchange-traded and OTC carbon markets lifted to 955k last week (+345k), above the year-to-date (YTD) weekly average (~556k).

Spot volumes eased to 425k (-135k WoW) – led by Generic (No-Avoided Deforestation) ACCUs (55%), followed by Human Induced Regeneration ACCUs (32%), Generic ACCUs (11%) and Safeguard Mechanism Credits (2%).

Weekly traded ranges tightened to a 6-week low of just $0.10/t ($37.90/t – $38.00/t) – characteristic of the past month (average weekly range: $0.23/t) as the market remains well supported by both buyers and sellers around $38/t.

Monday’s first trades at weekly lows of $37.90/t marked a dip from the prior week’s Generic
