UPDATE: ACCU prices slip on light volumes, Generic / HIR spread holds

RepuTex’s Carbon Weekly report analyses recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessment by method, spreads, forward activity, traded volumes, and key market developments. Analysis considers the Australian market along with international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.

ACCUs trade down on light volumes with buying support keeping prices range bound

Overall volume in the brokered Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) market remained subdued at 231,000 units transacted, remaining near the four-month low of 200,000 units traded last week.

Generic ACCUs (low-cost emissions avoidance projects) traded in a tight range over the week, trading down to $30.50/t on Monday with 10,000 units traded for spot (80k on the day), alongside Dec 23 and Jan 24 forwards traded in 10k each at the same $30.50/t price point. Spot trading saw the price recover back up to $31/t on Tuesday, dip back to $30.85/t Thursday and a 5,000 unit parcel rounded out the week at $31/t.
