Our latest Carbon Weekly report has now been published, reviewing activity in the Australian and international carbon markets for the period 11 – 15 November 2024.
Momentum in the Australian carbon market continued to build last week, with total weekly traded volumes marking a new year-to-date high, nearing the record high set in January 2023. Spot market activity dominated, led by Generic No-Avoided Deforestation (No-AD) and Human Induced Regeneration (HIR) ACCUs, with HIR volumes hitting their second-highest daily total on record. Both our Generic and HIR ACCU price assessments continue to reach new year-to-date highs, with prices at their highest levels since March 2022, trending toward our forecast for March 2025. Derivatives activity remained strong, driven by collar strategies and call options. With key reporting deadlines now behind us, and record forward settlements due in December, we continue to expect market momentum to stay robust through the end of the year.
In this Carbon Weekly report, we analyse recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessments, method spreads, forward activity, and traded volumes.
