RepuTex’s Carbon Weekly report analyses recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessment by method, spreads, forward activity, traded volumes, and key market developments. Analysis considers the Australian market along with international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.
Spread between HIR-Generic units tightens but remains wide
The ACCU market saw a slight uptick in activity compared to the previous week, but volumes were still down on recent levels, with spot prices generally trading higher.
Generic ACCUs (low-cost avoidance) traded at $27.75/t early in the week, down slightly on the previous week’s close of $28.00/t, before trading up $1.25 to end the week at $29/t (up 3.5%). Total Generic volumes for the week were 60,000, with a further 89,000 No Avoided Deforestation (AD) Generics trading (total 149,000), opening at $28.00/t and rising 4.5% to $29.25/t on Friday.
Prices for No-AD Generics continue to trend with Generics, with a small premium for No-AD due to the negative sentiment around the AD
