Direct Action: Lower Emissions, Lower Cost to Industry?

RepuTex analysis indicates that Direct Action could drive savings for industry – and emissions reductions – if calibrated to meet Australia’s 5% emissions target. RepuTex studied the impact of Direct Action on the Australian coal industry, finding that the sector could achieve emissions reductions at a saving of over A$800m compared to the CPM. Additional savings could also be driven by the use of offsets, with structural changes to policy required if Direct Action is to pass the Senate.
