RepuTex has today launched a new ‘Market Close’ price assessment for Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), providing a timely and consistent end-of-day mark for the most liquid methodologies traded in the over-the-counter (OTC) spot market.
In illiquid markets, such as the Australian carbon market, value can be a function of time. Depending on the time of day a transaction occurs, the most competitive current bids and offers may better capture market value, better informing position management and pricing into the next trading session.
The objective of the Market Close assessment is therefore to provide a consistent measure of market value based on the most competitive bids and offers available over a fixed market window at the end of each day.
The Market Close assessment may be viewed alongside our volume weighted average price (VWAP) assessments, which provide a more comprehensive picture of trading throughout the entire day, accounting for both price and volume.
