Our latest Carbon Weekly report has now been published, reviewing activity in the Australian and international carbon markets for the period January 6 – 10 2025.

Last week saw the Australian carbon market pick up where it left off 2024, with total weekly volumes across spot and derivatives markets well above our rolling 12-month weekly average, led by robust spot trading. While Generic and HIR ACCU prices saw mid-week fluctuations, both of our key assessments found stability as the week progressed, testing underlying support levels in the market. Meanwhile, both OTC and futures markets found liquidity quickly, with a focus on key dates. Looking ahead, we expect further activity as entities continue to true-up their compliance positions ahead of the Mar-25 compliance deadline, balanced by our expectations for higher forecast SMC issuance, presented within our earlier updates.

In this Carbon Weekly report, we analyse recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessments, method spreads, forward activity, and traded volumes.
