Our latest Carbon Weekly report reviews activity in the Australian and international carbon markets for the period 9 – 13 September 2024.
Last week saw momentum accelerate once again across the Australian carbon market, with over 1M ACCUs traded (across both spot and derivatives) within a single day for the first time on record. This pushed our Generic ACCU (Benchmark) assessment to equal a year to date high, while intraday prices reached a 16-month high dating back to May 2023. Meanwhile, trading in Environmental Plantings and Savanna Fire Management ACCUs showed greater price convergence with Generic ACCUs, while new reports critical of carbon project developers, and key industry stakeholders, have surfaced in the media.
RepuTex’s Carbon Weekly report analyses recent activity in the Australian and international voluntary carbon markets, including our ACCU spot price assessments, method spreads, forward activity, traded volumes, and key market developments. Analysis considers the Australian market along with international registries including Verra, Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reserve.
